The North Platte Catholic School System has a deep and rich heritage of providing quality, parochial education in the Catholic tradition. From the first “Nativity Convent School” that opened in 1891, to McDaid Elementary in 1916, St. Patrick’s High School in 1955, the current McDaid School in 2000, and Little Leprechaun Preschool in 2010. Today, the North Platte Catholic Schools provide education to hundreds of students at the preschool, elementary, middle, and high school levels.
Though St. Patrick’s has long been recognized for its athletic successes, the academic and fine arts programs are the base of the school’s tradition. For more than a century, graduates have achieved academic and professional success nurtured in the classrooms of McDaid and St. Patrick’s. The service program at the North Platte Catholic Schools is also a credit to the school and its traditions. Students contribute thousands of hours annually to community service projects in their Parishes and the local community. Faith and knowledge are paramount to student formation at all levels in the North Platte Catholic Schools, and St. Patrick’s graduates consistently achieve at high levels in their post-secondary endeavors. The main chapel is located inside McDaid Elementary, and all students K-12 attend weekly Mass. The North Platte Catholic Schools are the only Pre-K through 12th grade school system between Hastings, Nebraska and Denver, Colorado.
The Catholic Parishes of North Platte provide both spiritual and financial support to our school system. St. Patrick's and Holy Spirit, of the Grand Island Diocese, both provide subsidies in support of general opearating budget of the school.
